The Sitting Elephant is an open rooftop restaurant surrounded by hills on three sides and river Ganga flowing just near it. My experience was really good whether it was due to food or the service of the staff. This restaurant is a good option to dine in Rishikesh.
Ambience of the restaurant
The restaurant has an indoor dining area and an adjoining outdoor dining area. The indoor section is decorated by the bamboo and heavily inspired by the traits of an elephant. So you will see art work from the rural India mainly consisting of the paintings of the elephant. The interiors of the restaurant is OK.
But the outdoor dining area is what I liked the most. This section has a false garden and hanging potted plants around the dining tables. The USP is the view of the Himalayas and the majestic river Ganga flowing along the opposite side of the road on which this restaurant is located. This view will definitely make you fall in love with the nature.
Food here was really good. They served a variety of dishes in the dinner buffet which included the Dal panchratan, paneer lababdar, veg kolhapuri, hing hara Plaza chatpatte aloo, mix Raita, red sauce penne pasta, noodles, Raita etc. I loved their manchow soup alot. Paneer lababdar, panchratan Dal and Pasta were outstanding. In desserts I loved the rice pudding alot
Service and staff
Service was really good and the staff was very cordial and helpful. Mr Jitender Negi, the restaurant manager took really good care of us and was always on his toes to serve us better.
