I booked this so called hotel online as the pictures of hotel and view appealed to me. When we entered the hotel complex there were many buildings within the complex and i thought that it was indeed a large hotel property. But least did I know that this so called hotel was located in a residential colony of Rishikesh. And those buildings were the residential apartments. The hotel only had few rooms on the ground floor and other floors and rest were residential homes of the people of that colony.
When we entered the hotel we were greeted with a garland of Tulasi beeds , very much in sync with the sanctity of Rishikesh in Hindu religion. The reception staff of the hotel was cordial especially Mr Anish and he was the one who escorted us to our room. Most of the hotel staff looked casual and need to be trained professionally.
Although their room and bathroom were big, neat and clean but on services it was zero. There was nothing in the minibar in room. When I asked the hotel staff to fill it they said they have not yet started it. I was shocked and thought what kind of hotel it was. I had shelled about 10,000 INR per night for this so called hotel and i actually got nothing worth my money. The only saver was the lovely view of garden and hills from our room.
There were two restaurants in the hotel- one was called Patio which was an open roof restaurant in the garden just infront of my room. View offered from the restaurant was no doubt stunning as this restaurants overlooks the Himalayas, River Ganga and Lakshman Jhula is easily visible from here. But this restaurant served only evening tea and very few snacks. When I wanted to order some other snacks they told me that they have not yet started the full-fledged menu so I had only some biscuits and sandwiches to eat... And what further dampened my mood was that in a span of minutes this restaurant became crowded with the residents of the apartments who were also allowed there. And suddenly that peaceful view of the Ganga was overshadowed by the hustle bustle of the crowd. I could hardly see other hotel guests there.
The second restaurant Latitude is located just opposite the hotel reception area. And for going from my room to the restaurant I had no option but to share the same lift with the apartment residents because that was the only lift in the hotel. And when I reached the restaurant for dinner I was shocked to the core to see that it was totally jam packed with the apartment residents. There was so much of noise, shrieking and clamoring of the crowd. With lot of difficulty I found a table to dine. It totally spoilt my mood of vacationing. And food in the dinner buffet was just OK and not much taste was there.
There is also an in-house spa near the hotel reception area. I went for Swedish Spa massage which was good and relaxing. My masseuse was good. But I seriously think the spa reception staff and the spa manager were untrained and not very polite.
Only good thing in the hotel was the infinity pool and the view of the Himalayas and Ganga river valley from the pool. This is the view that you will definitely enjoy. I also liked their garden which was well maintained. But for 10,000 INR per night is way too much for this single view and zero hospitality. I seriously think it is highly overrated and just not worth it. You just feel too irritated by seeing the crowd everywhere with average food and nil hospitality.
Things i didn't like about this hotel
Some good things about this resort
I think that only reason you can visit this hotel is its view of Ganga valley and the Himalyas. However apart from that there is nothing much. You just don't get that vacation feeling here because it is so over-crowded. If you are looking for some peace and alone time then this is certainly not the place for you.
My overall score card for this hotel
Location: 4.0/5 ( Only for the view)
Infrastructure and interiors: 3.0/5
Food in the In-house restaurants: 3.0/5
How much it cost me per night: 150 USD (10,000 INR) for room with breakfast
Value for money: 3.0/5 (All points are only for the view of nature you get here)
