Punjab Grill in the Select city walk mall is a very famous restaurant serving some delectable North Indian and Mughlai food in Delhi. I have visited this restaurant many times earlier too with my family and friends and have almost always loved their food. This restaurant in Saket mall has two areas for dining, though both very near to each other. The first one is comparatively small in size, very well illuminated and used exclusively for Buffet dining.
The other section of this restaurant is comparatively bigger in size and is used for the ala carte dining and on weekends for Buffet dining also This section is actually been made on an open space in the mall but its roof has been covered and it has been air conditioned also. But some natural light still filters in through the some glass portions in the roof and through the glass windows and the latticed windows. This is what attracts me the most to this section of restaurant. I would call it a partial alfresco seating portion of the restaurant.
I wanted to go for the ala-carte dining so I headed to my favourite section of the restaurant. I like the fact that it is dimly lit by the hanging lamps and some natural light also pouring in.
I visited this restaurant for lunch and I ordered Murgh Malai Tikka, Patialashahi Kadai Paneer, Santari Mocktail, Apple Mojito and Naan. The dish wise detailed description of my order has been documented as under.
It was a mocktail of orange juice, fresh orange pieces, mint and sugar syrup. I liked how they had presented the drink in a big glass jar. Drink was also good but I felt it was too sweet. Just wished they would have added less sugar syrup
This mocktail of green apple and mint was very balanced in taste and i really liked it.
Murgh Malai Tikka
Now this was my favourite one. I am a big time lover of this starter dish which is actually chicken marinated in yogurt, cashewnut paste and cheese and then cooked in tandoor. I must this is the best murgh malai tikka i have ever eaten in Delhi. This is one of their best dishes i must say. The chicken morsels were adequately sized and the chicken was too tender that it almost melts in your mouth. This is a must try dish if you ever visit this restaurant.
Patialashai Kadai Paneer
This main course dish is the cottage cheese or Paneer cooked in tomato onion thick gravy. Paneer was soft and gravy also tasted well. Overall this dish was also good and can be tried.
In breads I ordered a Naan and Tandoori Roti. Their Naan is very good and so big in size that even a single naan is enough for a person.
My experience at this restaurant was very good. Not only the food was very good but the ambience too was soothing. Also the restaurant staff was very friendly. Mr Upender Singh took good care of our needs and was always on his toes to serve us. This restaurant should be on your must visit list if you want to eat some authentic and tasty North Indian food.
However few things I didn't like and want the management to look into them:
